What I know Skyy Fisher is a CUSD Board Member. Skyy is being accused about saying some inappropriate comments about Treyvon Martin and others. Below is the youtube video which started this fire, and the statement from Paulette Simpson-Gipson, and finally a personal statement that Skyy Fisher posted on facebook during his campaign.
Statement from, Compton NAACP President Paulette Simpson-Gipson:
"CUSD Board Member Skyy Fisher needs to resign!
It is a shame and a disgrace that we would have an elected official publicly disrespecting people in this manner! To refer to the superintendent by a name other than her given name, to disrespect a parent and his child with no regards to professionalism nor compassion for the situation, to make a mockery out of the tragic death of Trayvon Martin, is horribly tasteless and evident of his immaturity and lack of ability to govern this district!
As a community we should be outraged at an elected official of this caliber representing our children! His disregard for integrity of the position he holds as well as the community he represents is exactly why he needs to go! Ignorance is no excuse under the law so neither will it be for us here in Compton!
Skyy Fisher must go now!!"

Skyy this on facebook during his campaign in 2011. Below is a cut and paste from his facebook group.
"Skyy is a native of Compton. He was born, reared and educated i...n Compton schools. HE IS A PRODUCT OF THE COMPTON.
As a 2nd generation resident of Compton, Skyy comes from a family rich in education and community service. He is the oldest son of Compton College Foster Care Administrator Pamela Hembrick-Godfrey. Skyy has two older sisters, April, Daniellie and one younger brother Kelton.
Skyy has represented students, education professionals and union members and their respective families in neighborhoods stretching from Compton to Philadelphia. A champion for educational equality and organized labor, Skyy has earned a reputation as a passionate advocate who engages intricate issues on behalf of students, union members and their families.
Skyy began his community service as an early teen, volunteering with the Foster and Kinship Care Education Program at Compton College. Skyy continues to serve as a volunteer youth mentor.
Skyy has held many memberships and elected/appointed positions since his distinguished start in public service:
• Chair – Los Angeles County Democratic Party (52nd Assembly District Delegation)
• Founder/President – New Wave Democratic Club
• Member – Gardena Valley Democratic Club
• Vice Chair- Cal State Dominguez Hills Loker University Student Union
• Vice President- Cal State Dominguez Hills Associated Students Inc.
• Director of Student Services-Cal State Dominguez Hills Associated Students Inc.
• Public Affairs Commissioner-Cal State Dominguez Hills Associated Students Inc.
• Honorary Lifetime Member-Cal State Dominguez Hills Associated Students
• Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
Skyy’s public service began in the City of Compton and later translated into an expanding life in public service throughoutthe United States. Skyy currently serves as a staff member for a national labor union representing more than 1.5 million pre-K through 12th-grade teachers; paraprofessionals and other school-related personnel; higher education faculty and professional staff; federal, state and local government employees. Skyy efficiently advocates for the rights of union members and quality education for students throughout the United States.
Most recently Skyy has taken the initiative to pursue the City of Compton Redevelopment Agency for the over $20 million owed to the Compton Unified School District which was mandated by California Proposition (Prop) 98.
Prop 98 which is referred to as “California Instructional Improvement and Accountability Act” was passed by California voters who realized the importance of state and local governments paying their fare share into K-12 education.
Skyy refuses to be stopped by the bureaucracies of local government at the expense of educating the children of Compton Unified. Asking the current Compton School Board to authorize the executive cabinet to develop and execute an immediate plan to acquire these funds from the City of Compton to help with the reduction of class sizes from 30:1 teacher to student ratio to 25:1.
Skyy knows with the growing demand on our teachers to meet testing requirements, smaller class sizes are essential to our teachers and students success in the classroom. Skyy remains focused on giving our teachers the tools needed to help our student be successful and matriculate to higher education.
Skyy’s former work experience includes:
• Executive Director- Hub City Arts Collective
• Senior Field Representative – California State Legislature

The same way Skyy got elected to Compton School Board is going to be the same way he tries to get out of this mess: with his mouth. At first glance, Skyy is the next generation of leaders from Compton. Dresses well, speaks well, says the right thing but underneath it all, you get what you heard on the Internet radio station. An immature, ignorant individual who doesn't know the role he is supposed to play in the community. A person who is trying to move on to the next big thing. As he stated in the radio show, it seems Compton City Council was next on his radar. Busting an Isadore Hall move! What makes me sad is that the Compton community loses all the time when people like him get away with things. He should be held accountable and Compton residents shouldn't wait for Skyy Fisher to do the right thing and resign. That woudn't be in his character. He needs to work on his issues on his own time.........not during his term. Compton residents should begin the process of a recall and find someone else who is ready for real leadership. A recall would show Skyy that Compton has dedicated voters who will not accept this behavior in their elected officials. A recall would allow the country to see that Compton will not stand for comments that divide. If Compton does nothing, then, unfortunately, many people will not be surprised. But I know Compton has dedicated people that have been hurt and dissapointed in what Skyy has created in our community. Compton elected officials need to know there are consequences when the community's trust is taken for granted and not valued. At the end of the day, the school board should represent the thoughts, opinions, and values of the residents of Compton. Skyy trampeled on them and has greatly misrepresented the Compton community. Important decisions are made for students and these underlying beliefs and attitudes always come out when school board members vote. I am angry that there is still a chance that this will be forgotten and ignored. That an apology here and some rehab will make everything good again. I do understand that we must protect our own but there are many other good, future leaders in our community that have not messed up and they need our support and mentoring. It is sad that we have to latch on and excuse actions of damaged goods. What everyone heard was the real Skyy behind closed doors and it slipped out for everyone to see. I do agree he should resign and focus on himself and make himself better. The job of the school board requires someone who has the time and their full attention. Something Skyy will not have for, at least, the next year. Skyy, please resign to prevent the Compton community from dragging this on through a voter-inititated recall. Please spare us future national embarrasement and money needed to have a special election. START THE RECALL PROCESS NOW!
